I'm new to the forum and once the weather gets nice again I'll be joining the ranks of H-D owners. Come spring I will be purchasing a 2012 Softail Deluxe. I am a thoroughly enthralled with all things classic and being as such, I'd like to try to do whatever retro mods I can to give the bike an even more retro feel.
Two mods I am looking at doing are a "pogo" style solo seat and a classic styled 2 into 1 exhaust.
If anyone can point me in the right direction of where I might be able to acquire I'd be much appreciative!
Supertrapp has one, but not yet for 2012 models ... You will need to change the bungs for the O2 sensors (HD changed them for 2012 models) ... or maybe by the time you are buying they have one for the 2012 models.
You picked the perfect bike to do this.....if you use the D&D the pipe is low enough that if you pick up a set of springer bags they should fit. I love that mix between retro and modern you have alot of flexibility with the deluxe
So I ended up going with a used super low mileage 2007 Deluxe. I knew I'd be modding the bike and possibly making actual physical changes that would require drilling and tapping on the frame and the like and it seemed more prudent to do so with a really solid used bike.
I ended up going with the Super Trapp 2 into 1. I have a VL muffler that I am going to throw on it and see how that does.
I got a set of replica Speed King bags that I have hung on teh bike. They look really sharp!
Jason: There are two guys here that can help you. One is xjayx, he rides a Blackline. The other's name escapes me, but he has a pogo on his and will probably chime in soon. Jay gabbed one up for someone & the other guy has it on his bike. You may be able to find him by a search on the forum. Good luck, and congrats on the bike! Enjoy!
