I am wanting to change out the exhaust and air intake on my 2012 Softail Deluxe... I want power and a great sound--low rumble--loud but not loud enough to make my ears bleed loud.
I am looking at putting VnH Staggered Big Shots as well as Big City Thunder Quiet Baffles (I'm hoping that the word quiet just means quieter than the normal BCTs
Anyone have any experience with the BCTs Quiets? I would like way louder than stock but not straight pipe loud...
I just installed the V&H big shot staggered on my '12 CVO softail. I had them install the quiet baffles because I thought that with the standard baffles they were a bit too loud for my taste. I will say this, you really need to hear them in person as even the best clips that I heard online didn't do any justice to the actual sound.
Ive got the V&H big shots stagger. Have the low rumble and beautiful sound in my opinion. But agree with pbsaz, try to hear a set first. Mine is a carb not FI. Makes a difference in sound. I have noticed that Fuel injected has a higher pitch and idles faster. Shop around and hit a couple of hang outs or shows and ask around. Good Luck
The V&H quiet baffles might suit you better. BCT baffles are much louder than V&H baffles.
Teh V&H quiet baffles will make the pipes about 2-3 decibels quieter than the stock baffles and they will sound much deeper. I don't have personal experience with the BCT quiet baffles.
I have Python Stagger Duals which I'm told are the same as the V&H Big Shot Staggered and they have a great sound, nice low rumble with little if any decel popping, but with standard baffles they are loud. I've resorted to wearing ear plugs for now but I'm gonna get some Hard Core Baffles. They install with the factory baffles and supposedly give you 6-12db noise reduction.
I had vance and Hines on my ride a few years back i had the quiet baffles installed and it sounded pretty good.I then decided i wanted them a little louder. I removed the material which the quiet baffles are wrapped with and it did the trick gave a nice boost in sound which i was happy with. Thing is my vance and hines came with baffles which you can remove i took them out before installing the pipes and put the quiet ones in my bike ran great no problems. I decided to put the ones in that came with the pipes much louder but i then had problems hesitation at low rpms not acceptable. I then put the quite baffles back in with out the packing materiel and that was great. the hesitation was gone got a little louder and ran great.
