Deeper tone from exhaust...

On a 09' FXD, which V&H exhaust will give a lower, deeper tone (as opposed to "harshier"). Opinions? Any other brands/configurations?

Don't know what you have on now, but I assume it's stock. I put on the V&H slip ons with quiet baffles, and didn't get much quieter than their standard baffles, but did get deeper. Then in a moment of insanity (they come often but I usually don't act on them) I got a set of the new Thunder City Monster QQ baffles. Not cheap ($130) and still not quiet, but definitely much deeper and less harsh, especially at idle, kind of like a motorboat. I really like the sound and you can install part of the standard V&H baffle behind it if it's too loud.
There's lots of options out there, depending how much you want to spend, and I'm sure you'll hear from more of us here.

I have the V&H Big Radius 2-2 and although the sound is great right out of the box, I really wasn't happy with it until I installed Big City Thunder baffles. It is perfect now.

My V&H BR2-1 gives a nice rumble... not too loud either... till you gas it.

It does have a nice sound. I was really surprised how mellow it was.

not a single V&H system will sound as good as a thunderheader. Beautiful deep rumble . Myu fatcats have a good deep sound too. Mellow idle tone though.

My V&H Staggered Short Shots were great out of the box and over 2yrs they got better due to burning off some of the baffle. Now with the BCT they are very nice. And you posted a question that is going to bring tons of opinions. Get out to your local stealer and when you hear a bike that you like the sound of, ask what they are. You tube doesnt give the right sound that only happens in person.
