Default 2004 Softail Heritage Classic Question

Gents, my local dealer has a 2004 Softail Heritage Classic for about $10k with 34k M.. i currently have a 2006 1200 sporty and have been wanting a softail classic but was waiting while I put some money aside... but I am wondering should I bite? Or is 2004 a year to stay away from? dhould I hold out to find a newer year... of course they're more expensive... any advice? BTW I would want to trade in my sporty for it....

sounds high to me...the dealers in my opinion are always way too high...I bought my 05 with 18K and LOADED with accessories for 10K from a individual....My bike had pipes, boards, crash bars, LED's, 2 windshields, upgraded headlights, and new rear tire....take your time and look around, nice bikes are out there. Just my $.02

My local dealer has a 07 with 38K and they still want 14K for it.....damn!!

Find out if they have upgraded the cam shoe tensioners to gear drive or put in the S/E kit first. If not that has to be part of the deal at the same price. I always buy used bikes from individuals as well as I save a lot of money and need no help from the dealer. But, I understand the security of buying from the dealer as well.

+ a MILLION on making them fix this first at NO extra cost. It should have been a recall issue, but HD dodged it. If they won't fix it, WALK.

Sounds High. I picked up a 2007, 2 years ago for 12000, had 10k miles and loaded, pipes, lots of chrome and well taken care of.

I'd at least try to find a 2007.

I paid $11k for an 2006 with only 1100 miles....sounds high for the miles. My deal was a while ago.

I looked at the 07s and there just were not the deals out there at the time. I had to draw the line on how many more thousands an 07 was worth.

I wish they would have a recall on the tensioners.

If it were me I would shop around a bit for a newer one. Believe me, that six speed makes all the difference. Hey, this is a bike you may ride for a long time, get exactly what you want. The 96 and six speed would be on my must have list.

Definitely get a 2007 or newer. The 96" motor and six speed is well worth
it. Winter is coming and the prices will be going down.
