This was touche don in a recent post by Easyrider, but figured I better start a new thread, so...
Back and forth on which model, I KEEP going back to the Deuce. I am not into touring, but do ride 2-up on weekends bopping around town-town, a few hundred miles at the most. I am a little over 6', one guy mentioned he loves his Deuce for 2-up. Any others with a Deuce have anything to add?
I use my Night Train for two up riding most of the time and when I bought it I was looking for either a Night Train or a Deuce. I really like both, but all the Deuces I rode had small passenger seats, which wasn't acceptable by my better half, and even though I would have replaced the seat anyway I came across a used Night Train with many of the extra's I had planned to do and for a helluva price...
Still, if I had found a Deuce in the same condition at the same price I might be a Deuce rider right now!!!
I have a 03 SE deuce which is lowered from the factory and while it's a great ride, I would say that a lowered deuce is not for 2 up. The standard deuce may hack it , but the rubber mounts with the standard rear shock set up would be much better for 2 up,
being there is more travel in the suspension and easier to preload the shocks than the softail is.
Bill, It's about time for a HDForums Bike Lottery, don't you think? I would dish out some bucks for a chance to get my hands on your sweet Deuce!!
I've thought about that also, only problem is that if it doesn't meet the price, then a refund would be in order and that would be a major PITA
Maybe something like $100 a ticket , that means 240 tickets or there abouts, who's willing for a limited production bike with only 2800 miles on it with a LOT of extra's ?
The current 05 deuce that I drive is lowered between 1-2 inches. I have no problem riding two up with my wife. BUT....she weighs 125 lbs and I check in at about 175. I also don't drive it to the limits when she is on the back. The stock seat is incomfortable for her when riding over 20 miles. I bought the touring seat from HD to help with the longer rides. She says it makes a real big difference and is comfortable on longer rides. I really don't like the look of the touring seat for solo riding. It is bulkier and takes away from the sleek Deuce look that that I like. So, since you only deal with one screw to swapping out the seat....when we go two up...I just change the seat.
I can post a pic with the other seat on it if you would like.
