I dont know if it was mentioned, because quite frankly my attention span is too short to actually read more than like 4 posts at a time..but have you considered Nickle plating? its similar to chrome, but has a different tint to it, and in my option is more attractive than Chrome, but not as flashy as Gold

I agree with this. Gold plating seldom stands the test of time. Gold is soft to begin with. I'm not sure what the choices of a plating solution are for gold vs other content- (Harder) 10K, 14K, 18K, 21K, or 24K (Softer)? I guess you can use whatever you want. The 10K might be durable enough for awhile depending on the thickness of the plating. I'm just thinking down the road after a few years of constant polishing. Will the base metal start showing through. What's that going to look like?

gold powder coats is going to be the way to go..It will look good and hold up..there was a guy on here that you could send your stuff too if you dont have someone available local!

there are tons of colors available

Seen a show bike done up in GOLD 40 yrs ago.. but wasn't a daily rider, so no idea how it would hold up.
