Default Horn Replacement and Relocation

I did some digging around in the forums and didn't find a clear answer to my questions.

I'm planning on replacing the stock cow bell on my Fatboy with an air horn. Have yet to decide whether I'm going to go with the HD air horn, the Wolo Bad Boy, or the Mini Beast. I'm not really interested in trumpets. I want something a bit more compact.

It seems like a number of folks have had problems with the plastic chrome on the Bad Boy's peeling. As I understand it the HD air horns have plastic chrome similar to the Bad Boy's but I haven't read a lot of complaints about them peeling. Has anyone had problems with the HD horns peeling?

Also, I'd like to relocate the horn to a different spot to get a cleaner look in the area where the cow bell is currently located. I was wondering if anyone had ever located one of the compact air horns (those listed above or others) to the bolt for the highway bars located between the down tubes? If so, which horn did you use and were you able to locate it there with the highway bars still in place?

If anyone has installed one of the air horns in other locations, I'd appreciate it if you could share some pictures or experiences with relocating the horn. Thanks.

If you do relocate the horn between the down tubes you must make sure it does not hit the fender when the forks compress. That would be my number one concern.

If you wanted to you could mount it under the bike or in the area behind the rear splash guard under the oil tank. An air horn should have no problem being heard from any mounting location. Im thinking of this myself but as of yet have not done any type of feasibility study.

Once the cowbell is off you could do a coil relocation if you wanted a different look.

Just a few ideas

Thanks. I am considering relocating the coil. For some of the horns it's pretty easy to find dimensions but for others not so much. I think I'm just going to have to pick one and then try different locations till I find a good fit.

Thanks Dr. I did consider that. I think if I can get the horn to hang at an angle that follows the angle of the down tubes, fender clearance shouldn't be a problem.

I relocated the stock horn between the downtubes when I added an engine cooling fan to my Night Train. No clearance problems but nothing larger will fit in that location. Note: you must use the rubber isolator. Considered the Mini-Beast until I discovered it's size. Somewhat large but a quality product. I'm using Howard's Horns on my Fatboy. Photos attached.

I ride in Asia where a loud horn is a Must Have.

Said it b4 and will say it again "what is it with you USA guys and your bloody horns? more noise more man hood?

I hated that stupid thing hanging over my engine.
I went on e-bay bought a 12v horn from china for about $3 stuck it behind the seat under rear fender sounds like a Leprechaun fart but who cares?

Nice work. Which horn did you use? I can't really tell from the pic.
