My Deluxe is in for the 5k service and the "07 Upgrade"/recall, $340. for an oil change and tighten some loose nuts? What exactly is being done at the the 5K service?[sm=dontgetit.gif]
The dealer should provide you with a list (quite lengthy in the case of my FB) that explains what they do. The bulk of the fee is towards labor (@ $75.00/hr. +/- 2hrs.). In my case I paid almost $370.00 for the 1k service, mainly because my FB has the chrome oil filter and ordered synthetic oil 6 qts. (gasp). My dealer does clean the bike (after the service) and fills up the tank, so I took mine empty, that's about $13.00 savings .

That list explains what they're SUPPOSED to do, if infact they do it.
My 5k cost me some gaskets, plugs, oil/fluids, a dab of cable lube, and about 3 hours of my OWN time. Though I do need to grease my neck bearings and I may pull, clean and inspect my brake pads. That 10k is the one that concerns me..
fixmyhog.com I found it to be a great tool.. along with the good ole' svc manual.

Babs , your right , I took mine in for the 10 G and all I could see being done was not sealing my primary plug so it leaked and half a$$ the clean up for 420 clams. Now I do the regular stuff myself and is anything major I will bring it in ...............maybe !
Buy a service manuel....... it has a chart that shows what needs to be done at all of your services. It is very easy to do it yourself, and you save at least a couple hundred bucks in the process.
I picked up the Deluxe from the 5k service today, rides like brand new! I didnât realize how out of wack it was until I rode it home, rides and shifts smoother, accelerates way better, well worth the money spent. I dont think I could have tweeked the bike so well myself, And yes, I picked up a manual while I was at the dealer, lots of reading to do now.
