heybaylor, what did you do to the rear end?
How did you determine your target position for the rear suspension?

took off the extentions that were on the stock shocks.
then ,(your gonna laugh) raised the preload on the shocks untill I could get my motorcycle jack under it ...

I used to have to use boards under the tires to use the jack.

the kidney busting "jolt" crossing a local bridge is gone..life is good

What rear tire are you running?

Norcaldog also added 2"-over fork tubes to gain some clearance.

Its an adapter screwed on from a lowering kit. My Softail has the SE shocks on it and I have a set of regular standard ones. The standard ones are around 1" shorter then the SE. Both have the front thread part for the bushing as a single unit back into shock. Adapting would worry me but it must work for many. Opposite from what most realize extending the shock drives the suspension / tire up into wheel well lowering bike.

Can somebody with a Heritage with OEM rear suspension jack their bike up so that there is no weight on the back wheel and give me this "X" measurement?
