Default Grease fitting

Is there any specific type grease that should be used to grease the fittings on the Heritage Softail Classic.

I know you this is not the answer you want but... Please purchase a service manual for your year and model, in it you will find the answer(s) your seek.

My 2003 may not use the same as your XXXX.

For example my steering head uses "Special Purpose Grease (Part No. 99857-97)", what ever the heck that is.

I'll be picking up some Mystik® JT-6® Multipurpose #2 Grease from the local Tractor Supply store or Lowes if they carry it. Shouldn't seep onto your fender during hot months (which I've read the HD product does, etc) and is water resistant. Some others may chime in, but from doing some pretty extensive reading on this topic, this will be sufficient enough for me.

i use lucas "red and tacky #2"...good for 500 degrees. No runs, drips or errors. Works for me. The key is to pump full of new stuff and therefore pushing the old stuff out. It should come out top and bottom.

Personally +1 on what WOODY said. It sticks and it is slick. Thanks for the reminder WOODY.

It doesn't even have to be a hot climate. The HD crap leaks liquid when it's still in the grease gun. I didn't know there was an expiration date.
