steering head grease
i have an '07 flstc and wondered if anyone else has had the grease that is in the neck bleed back onto their tanks on rides on hot days. i spoke to the dealer's shop mgr about it and was told that it is because of the grease that H-D is using on them now. he said he's guessing it is a soy based grease and it does bleed a little \\;when it gets warm. he told me that, on a warm day, they have had to go up to the showroom floor and clean up drops that have bled onto the floor under new bikes if the doors of the showroom are left open for a while. \\;i know others that are having the same issues, i was curious if anyone here has seen any kind of remedy from H-D or recommends another grease. thanks. \\;
I use Lucas extreme duty grease............designed for heavy equipment that gets very little mataince done on the jobsite or farm. Supposed to go 3 times longer than conventional grease before needing service. Found it at Advanced Auto. \\; You'll have to pump a whole tube in your neck just to push the old stuff out. My neck has no fitting.......I pack the bearings by hand about every 15 years
Its an old story around here, but as far as I am aware the MOCO hasn't seen fit to 'fix' it or recomend a different type of grease.
Try doing a search and you'll find a few threads on it, maybe one of them has more tips on what to do other than mopping up afterwards all the time.

Motorex 2000 synthetic grease solved the problem for me. Got it at a bike shop. It will still squeeze out because there are no seals in the head bearings but it just sits there and don't drip or run.

thanks guys, i knew there had to be something out there that would take care of that problem. i am really surprised that H-D hasn't done something about the problem themselves. i appreciate the info.
I have the same problem on my 08 Softail Custom, and like you said, \\;there are drip marks all over the showroom floor. \\; My local dealer told me that on my 1000 mile service, they will flush the grease out and replace it with the last years grease. \\; I was under the impression that they just switched over in 08. \\;
when it was hot outside mine dripped on the backside of the front fender.
