I wonder what it would cost to cut a piece of aluminum like used for a door kicker plate, (Home Depot) and have it etched with whatever at a trophy shop?

Well here's my thing..i dont know whether or not the one in that image on the page is the exact one that will be shipped out.. if it is, it's exactly the same as the stock one, and one my dad has hung up on the wall that he took off his old console (it's beat up, which is why i dont use it).. and if it IS that one, then it'll fit just fine.. so it's like..do i spend $3 and find out, or do I spend $15 on the HD one, or $75 for the full set.. kinda worth it to me

You may have to spend even more now since the notes state that the mirrors may need an adaptor for 1996 and later.

Type in Dashinator or Console insert on E-Bay, buy the cheapest one you can find and spray paint it black.

good looking out, tslonige.. thanks

and with regards to the mirror adapters.. it says it fits the 2010 FLSTF's and FLSTFB's, and the adapter is to move it away from the master cylinder.. the stock mirrors don't interfere anywhere near it, so i'll just hope for the best that I don't need it, (especially because they don't have it in black).. if anything, i'll just return them and take the 15% restocking loss..not horrible on a set of $35 mirrors.

Okay, so here's what's up.. first.. just because J&P Cycles list their mirrors as "right, left" doesn't mean they're sold as a pair. Duhhhhh.. The Stealth II mirror I ordered is able to be a right hand mirror, or a left hand mirror and can be switched back and forth. Pretty neat actually. It's from Drag Specialities/Arlen Ness, and quiet honestly, I like it a lot..
So for comparison: The stock mirror, front and back:

Comparison between the two:

The new mirror:

It's lower, the mirror itself is wider, but not taller, and it extends further outwards, so i'm hoping i'll actually be able to see past my shoulder this time. The downsides i've found so far is that 1) there's a notch on the bolt on the back of the mirror that you bolt in to the stem, and that notch (to tighten it down with an open ended wrench) is metric. and the bolt that goes through the handlebar housing comes out from the stem, and the notch to tighten that one down is metric too. damnit. and it comes with wayy too many spacers and spare bolts and other do-dads that i have no clue what they're for, but i didn't need them.
Side note.. the webpage says "1999 and up MAY require an adapter".. this adapter is to give clearance from the brake master cylinder. I, obviously, did not need it on my bike, there was tons of clearance..but for people with Apes who want to hang it upside-down, maybe they will. Now i've gotta go back and order the second mirror for the other side.

Also, the real reason I started this thread.. the console insert, J&P P/N 730-230, $2.99.. fits perfectly. It's not shiney or anything, just a piece of tin with a sticky back, just like the stock one:
