Ice, Thanks! Judging by your location, this bike was located not too far from you. Guess they don't ride much in far western Iowa.
I know the weather is junk around here sometimes, but that certainly couldn't totally account for the low mileage on her! Must have been farming a lot. LOL I think this is going to be my #1.

Liz, Thanks, I plan on doing just that. Had a chance to her stretch her legs out a bit on the Interstate yesterday while trying to keep in mind that I had not thoroughly checked all the fluid levels (just the oil and safety stuff) prior to heading home. Also trying to be mindful that this bike is still in her "break in period" so to speak. I saw no evidence of any rust, water contamination in either the oil or the gas and it ran perfectly down the interstate and the few miles I ran around town getting the feel for her. I am just hoping I am not faced with a butt load of leaks from dried up gaskets as that was one of my worries. The guy who had it last said it had been serviced at least twice since new. He did not have it that long and only added about 8 miles, but as you can see by his pics, he has a lot of bikes and takes care of everything in his garage. Felt confident he had checked it out thoroughly too before purchasing from original owner. From what I gather first owner ordered it, didn't like the color to start and then had some friends either hurt or perish in a bike collision. That put an end to her riding. Don't know how much of that is truth vs BS but it makes an interesting story.

That's a great find..

Is she carbed or EFI.?

U didn't mention if she has fresh oils in her, if not, that would be first on the change list.
Also take a good look at the tires, 8yrs they may be cracking, so be careful on those, May need to put some new ones on.

She looks great, just make sure she's 100% safe to let her rip..

Then let the mods begin.....

I doubt you will have any gasket problems. Been into my 04 both sides. These original gaskets are sealed one side (and stuck good) See my album for popping my cam chain cover. When I was in primary I checked the rubber lip seal that keeps engine oil from getting into primary behind alternator. Still soft and flexible. That's a myth about gasket drying out on something as new as an 04. They are all synthetic. Non maintenance ones are 3 layers. Gasket material on each side of a metal layer. Good stuff. Even the maintenance ones are reusable as long as you are careful to not index them or over tighten them. You first PM you do you should probably replace them however. It's real easy replacing a odometer head and I find it hard to believe mileage but you checked. In my state yearly inspection would probably throw up red flags with dmv if someone did alter it here. New 04 --too cool.
