I purchased the Nostalgic Detachable windshield for my softail deluxe off E-bay. Got a sweat deal on the windshield but need to get the mounting hardware for it. I checked out the Harley Dealership but they weren't very helpfull and said that they had to piece it together and it wasn't in stock. Not to mention they said it would be over 100 bucks.
I thought Harley should sell a kit for this. Anyone know a Harley part # or any advice on the mounting hardware?
Holy dig-up-a-6-year-old-thread there Batman! I love my Nostalgia windshield on my Deluxe as well as being able to quickly pull it when I'm running around town! Makes a huge difference on longer runs for sure! If I were to buy a new one though, I'd buy the 23" King over the 21" Nostalgia for what it's worth.

Ive got the 23" king and I love it. Took me about 5 minutes to get used to looking through the windshield as apposed to over it and I dont get the vibration in my sunglasses anymore
So I know this is an old thread, but Im facing a similar issue. I unknowingly ordered a windshield that uses the nostalgic hardware. So my H hardware wouldnt work.
i ordered the correct hardware, and attempted to mount the new shield on the bike. Didnt fit the docking hardware that was being used for the old shield.
So much for being able to swap shields whenever I want. It appears that the distance between mounting points on the Nostalgic hardware is wider than the mounting points on the H hardware. What genius engineer determined it would be a good idea to make things so complicated? I mean, I assumed that the mounting hardware on the forks are still in good shape so it should work. My fault. I shouldnt have assumed.
Back to this thread. So now I have a new shield, with nostalgic U shaped hardware, that wont fit the bike with the current docking hardware on the forks.
Anyone know the part number for the hardware that installs on the forks? I have a 2005 Fatboy.
