Default Fork difference between FXSTC & FXSTB

I found a deal on a pair of chrome fork sliders, they are part 46447-07. Description says fits 2007 up FXSTB & FXST. The dealer selling them told me they would also fit my 2010 FXSTC. It seems logical and I want to believe them. The reason I have doubt is that on catelog pages I have found #46447-07 is like I mentioned and part #48660-07 fits 07 and up FXSTC.

Does anybody know what the difference is between the softail custom forks and the nighttrain or standard forks? If they are all the same why do they list a seperate parts for them?

These are the descripitons:
46477-07 FITS: ’07-later FXST and FXSTB models
48660-07 FITS: ’07-later FXSTC models
48665-08 FITS: ’08-later FXCW models. Stock on FXCWC models
46477-00 FITS: ’00-’05 FXDWG, ’00-’06 FXST, FXSTB models
45305-98 FITS: ’91-’99 FXDWG, FXST, FXSTC, FXSTB models

Thats what I would have thought. All of those parts numbers are for chrome fork sliders though, so its not the finish

Something has to be different about them. If I'm not mistaken, the last two digits of the part number refers to what year a revision was made for whatever reason.

I just put a pair of 07 FXSTC lowers on my 07 FXSTB. the difference is how the dust cap mounts to the top of the slider. The FXSTC uses a metal chrome fitting, and the FXSTB uses a rubber cap. you will not be able to use your FXSTC cap on the FXSTB.

+1 I bought what I thought were FXSTB lowers and the machining at the top was different. I think the caps for the FXSTC uses set screws to hold them instead of the rubber lip. Parts book shows a seal under the cap that the rubber boot doesn't use/need.
