I've posted this question before but did not receive a satisfactory answer. What are the manufacturing differences between a Front and Rear motorcycle tire?
Example: on Metzeler's web site, they list a Front 150/80 16MC 71H. They also list a Rear 150/80 16MC 71H. Same size, same tread pattern. When comparing the two tires, I don't see and differences.
Do Front and Rear tires have construction differences or is this simply marketing. Can a tire marketed for the rear be mounted on the front? If not, why?
I think you have to look at more than the size designations.... load ratings, traction ratings, etc. If you have done that and they are the same, call 'em. It may be as simple as side wall construction. Do they list different part numbers for them?
