Default question about painting

Im hoping someone on here will know if the guy Im getting my hard bags from is bullshi$ing me or not. I paid for them 5 weeks ago, and now they are delayed because they are being painted in Ft. Lauderdale Fl. He is telling me that no painters in South Florida have heated booths and its been cold there for the last week. Bottom line is that he has one coat of black on them now but its taking longer than normal for the paint to cure. Bullshi$ or not?

Paint will take longer to cure in cooler temps, but they should still be set up enough to handle & install within a week. Realistically, if it's too cool for paint to cure, it was also too cool to apply the paint. Sooo, he don't have a warmer room he can put them in? Even at 65 to 70 degrees, it's not going to need more than a week to gas off. I use an infrared lamp to bake the paint when need be. Then if it's too cool in the shop overnight, I'll just put the parts in the office.

He's probably either behind schedule on doing your paint, or he ran into a problem when painting that he needs to fix once cured. Sounds like he's buying time.

Regardless, try to be patient with him and let him do a good job for you. Busting his ***** right now can certainly have an adverse effect on the quality of the finished product.

I hear you there. Im trying to be patient. Its not easy when I paid in full 5 weeks ago. I understand that it was christmas blah blah blah, and he had to close the exhaust ports and do the prep. I also told the guy, he had better inspect them before they are shipped because if they arent perfect, he's gonna be seeing them again. I guess Im glad its winter and cant really ride much in colorado anyway, but its mostly just the anxiety of waiting and not sure if I trust him anymore ya know? Im sure when its all said and done that they will be fine. Just dont like being lied to. Its just not a good business practice.

Hell, the 10 day weather forecast there is in the high 70's and I don't recall hearing of any major cold waves in the news for Florida lately. I call BS!

Know the feeling and can't blame you for being anxious, I'm that way every time I order something. And then to top my day off, I received two parts and neither are right and one they listed my part # but it sure as hell wasn't the right parts! It happens, but like you said, when you've paid for something, you expect in a relatively timely manner and to be what is expected. I sure hate the idea of dealing with the local stealership but after today I'm leaning that way.

Yeah, there's something he's not telling you. Either he's botched up the job and had to start over, or he's way behind and just hasn't gotten to yours yet. I would much more appreciate if these guys would just be honest rather than making up things.
