thank you all for the words of support.....I am planning a solo trip....just not sure where yet....I know he will be with me......drag racing me in the straights of the back roads! Thanks again guys...love this place!
I come at it from another direction. I'm the dad and at 71 I still ride. I make sure every year to do a couple adventure rides with my son's. I started them on bikes when they each reached eight.
Whenever in the future that I am gone and they ride the Dragon, Key West, Alaskan Highway, Pacific Coast Highway, Death Valley, many of the major rallies, all the Canadian Provence's, and 49 North American States, I have already lead them there.
Here's my oldest son when he was ten on his style matching 80 cc Yamaha to my XS1100 Yamaha.
He's still with you and will be there when you are riding. It's no comfort, I know, but you are fortunate to have ridden with him. I never got the chance to do that, or anything like it, with my father. All we did together, which was still great, is work on stuff. I have his tools... and some days it's hard to go into my garage but I am thankful they are there. It never goes away...
Again, sorry for your loss, he will always ride with you. If you take that long solo ride and you ever get up around Chicago, give a shout out and maybe we can ride and show you some sights or do a Lil Country Crusin!!!
