Default extended wiring input

Hey guys puttin the beach bars on the 05 Deluxe. Gotta extend the wires and run them in the bars, from my reading it looks like the best way is to extend the wires under the tank area with proper wires and ends. So i have the 4" extension coming with ends so it should be plug and play, how do the plugs come apart to join the wires? So does the tank need to come off? If so what if any issues? Any other things to look for??? Sounds like feeding them in the bars is a matter of taping the ends together with a fish wire and pulling them through....any thing here to be careful of??? Thanks ahead of time!!! Teflon

Get hold of a manual before you start.
It has all the connectors with instructions on how to take them apart.
As far as the tank goes make damn sure you disconnect the fuel line from the tank BEFORE you attempt to try moving it.
A bunch of us have found out the hard way that it doesn't take very much lifting on the tank to break the fuel line.
They are made of hard plastic because of the high pressure and are not repairable like the good old rubber lines and a new one will set you back about $70 these days.
Most of the time you have to lift the tank a little to get at the connectors. If you can get at them by just lifting it a little you won't have to drain the tank.
In any case if you do anything with the tank you need to disconnect it to make sure you don't break that line.

Pulling the lines through is easy once you get the connectors off.
Just use a vacuum to suck (or an air hose to blow) a piece of heavy string through first, then use that to pull the wires through.
