Default Lights?

On my 97 FLSTC the two smaller lights on the sides of the headlight, should they be on when the high beam or low beam is on? Mine are on when the low beam is on and I get flashed by on-comeing traffic.

They will go off when you turn the high beams on. I leave mine on all the time. If they flash you, you know they see you

Let'em flash away! But you may want to check the alignment of the auxiliary lights and your headlight.

If oncoming traffic is flashing you frequently, it may be that your running lamps are aimed a bit too high. It's easy to lower the beams a bit if needed. If you get flashed every time you take the bike out, they're aimed too high.

Sometime you can tilt them down by hand if they arent real tight. The nut is down inside the housing behind the bulb.

Thanks for the help. I think they might need to be adjusted some.

Go to a level parking lot where you can aim the lights at a wall from 20' away, while you are sitting on the bike. Measure the distance from the ground to the center of the running lights. The measurement should be approximately 2" lower where the lights hit the wall.
