Yep added that a$$ wipe comment to my personal memory bank, only to be used in case of emergency....too funny...
My neighbor has a Hypercharger on his EVO and keeps telling me about some percent of HP gain he gets and whatever...Every once in awhile I bring it up just to get him going on it...He is a wealth of no-knowledge.
I have the Hyper Charger on my ride and I dig it. In fact I like it even more since all the sheep here, don't. I just have it because I need High-Flow and like the look. It does offer the performance gains you'll see in any other High-Flow intake. Any claims beyond that are just BS Hype. But Kuryakyn only makes about the same claim as any other manufacture that produces a high-flow air intake. This is cut & paste from their site:
Do they really work? Normally, replacing a stock air cleaner with a Hypercharger will net you a 7-9 horsepower increase at the rear wheel, with no other modifications! Add a carb recalibration kit, a good performance exhaust system (not drag pipes) and a 12-14 horsepower increase is normal.
I really think it gets a bad rap from some because the look & name of the product "implies" more than it is. But for some that are silly enough to suggest that they actually impede performance, I'm calling BS on you, show the scientific data that supports such claims.
Until then, I'll just continue cruising around with my bad a$$ Hyper-Charger
In reality that thread offer nothing more than the same inconclusive BS, hearsay, and ideology of a mystical vortex, as this thread. Completely inconclusive again! I can understand that some won't like the look of the unit or the novelty butterflies function, but to go as far as to say they impede performance with absolutely no "reputable" data to support such claims, is nothing more than spewing more regurgitated nonsense.
FWIW: I bought my bike new in 97 and had the Hyper Charger installed by the dealer prior to picking it up. That was 15 years ago this March. The bike has always run great and I've never even had the carb rebuilt yet.

I feel the same way about the S&S tuned induction. I like it and that's all that matters! Trying to prove it is "better" because it lengthens the intake tract seems like an exercise in navel gazing and it's not why I bought it.
