05 standard 200mm conversion check list please comment
Ok I know I'm beating a dead horse here but I want to get this right since this is my first Harley, I've done plenty of wide tire conversions on vintage GSXR's.
My parts list
06 swingarm
06 primary pulley
06 drive belt
06 rear wheel,rear rotor,rear belt sprocket,rear caliper & bracket
06 wheel spacers
06 rear fender, seat, and struts
I know I have to remove the frame horns, other than that what other mods will I have to do? Will the fender and struts just bolt right on?
Thanks for any help.
I have some of the stuff you have on your list, that i might sell if you are interested. I was gonna do the 200 tire on my 2000 Night Train. Bought some of the parts i needed, then got laid off...Have since decided not to do the 200. Instead i think i'm gonna put hard bags on it. Hate to do all that work for the 200, then hide it with bags.
I have a 2007 softail swingarm with shocks, 2008 Night Train fender and struts. And a 2006 rear wheel with pulley. Can't remember if it has caliper or not. Would have to unpack it and look.
For some reason I'm thinking that the struts Bolts on the 08 are differently spaced than the 05. I could be wrong. Also the seat will need replacement as well. I hope it works out for ya.
can be done with the wide belt but less than an 1/8" clearance.Late belt leaves a lot more room.Done a few of these and didn't change the swing arm.The late model struts bolt up just to the front and rear holes of the 3 0n the 05 I believe. We've used non HD struts. Also used aftermarket wheels. Some one will chime in here on bearing sizes I'm sure with the 06 wheel.https://www.hdforums.com/forum/softa...tire+fat+build
this thread by chops done years ago is loaded with info.
Does anyone make a soild steel fender strut that will fit a stock 06 200mm fender since I have to cut the frame horns off, seems it would make it more sturdy.
