question for electrical wiz problem with legends air
I have been having trouble with my legends air ride and it seems like something is possibly tripping the relay or solenoid here is the question the relay and compressor get the power from a direct connection to the pos battery terminal goes to the relay and the toggle switch its always live you can raise or lower the bike with the ignition off. on this battery terminal there is also a live connection to my buggy ligfhts can this coinnection give some kind of feedback to the relay just because they are on the same hot line. Thinking back to where all my problems started. I had brought my bike in to hd stealer to add four buggy lights they added two to the front wheel and two to the rare swing arm, that night all the lights went out old and new. I went home checked the fuse it was out i replaced it all the lights came on except the new four i brought it back to the stealer and he looked at it closely and they were not out all together they were so dim they looked dead. i left the bike and they said they would warrantee the lights. the day i was supposed to pick the bike up i called about an hour and a half before closing time the clerk in the service dept. said its done but leave let the silicone dry. i said OK ill be in in the morning she said no call first. this was kind of strange. about an hour later the tech called me saying we have a problem with your air ride its all the way down something is wrong with it. they had the bike a few days and said it needs a solenoid legends sent one and they installed it. it seemed OK but some time it felt like i was loosing air. i am now on my third compressor all brand new system and the bike is loosing air badly now. legends said they are not having problems with the system. mine started with this situation with the four new lights I went in for the install of the lights and get a call my air system is not working right. I do not know if its possible for this set up to give some kind of feedback to the relay but its the only thing I can come up with. Tonight ill disconnect the lights from the battery terminal and see what happens I cant believe that I have had three bad compressors or solenoids this is one of them problems that can make a guy loose sleep. I guess any thing can happen but thinking about that day the lights where installed and the call my air suspension was on the bum and the strange thing about letting the silicone dry and then the call. i have to think they had a problem and were trying to figure it out. so if there are any electrical wiz guys out there your thoughts
Without seeing it and testing it this is only a guess. I would be looking at all the wiring involved with the air system. The lights should not effect the solenoid. Although you mention that the lights and the solenoid are on the same circuit because they are both connected to the battery, EVERYTHING on your bike is connected to that same battery terminal.
I would guess it is a bad terminal, bad crimp, bad connection or a shorted wire. I would suggest getting a Volt/Ohm meter and checking everything. If a shop installed it, I would suspect their wiring/installation capabilities.
