My bike has changed a bit since this photo, but I still have the same AC cover and think it's the best looking one for a classic looking Crossbones. This is the stock HD chrome round cover that I had PC'd. As you can see from my signature pic, I did the same with the matching horn cover.
This is an old thread but after all this time, I am still convinced that the Bones looks best with something retro and simple like what it comes with from the factory.
I'm still unconvinced by the whole RSD trend of products. I'm sure they perform great and they actually look really cool...by themselves. But every time I see them on a motorcycle with more traditional styling like the Crossbones I throw up a little in my mouth. I've seen them work pretty well on certain baggers and on some of the one off custom bikes that RSD puts together. Otherwise I steer clear of their stuff and anything that looks like their stuff. Especially for the kind of money they expect to get for it.
