Heritage Bagger project - planning stages
I have thought about the tour pak. An awful lot. The hard one is just too geezer for me and the leather covered ones just aren't ask big.
What I've decided is that I'm going to splurge and get the bossbag FLH model leather bags:

He also makes a matching trunk and can do a piggyback style for more room than the hard tourpak, with matching leather etc.
If I can squeeze some 3.5" speakers or 4"x6"'s in the area between the saddlebag and the fender, I can do that.
Otherwise, I'm going to put the front lowers on from either the Moco or Fairing factory (a plus of having a black bike) and drop 7" speakers in there. maybe do that as well.
Still planning on removing the shock indentation from the bossbag backing with diamondplate or fiberglass. though.
Good Luck![/quote]
The RK custom bags are smaller than the other touring bags, due to the low profile and contour of them. Would have to say if you are not going to go with hard bags or RK bags why not just get a set of boss bags, leatherpros or any other quality aftermarket bag maker that are meant for a softail. That way they will be on and off easier and open more at the top. I had a set of Heritage springer bags for a couple of years before I went to RK bags and while I loved the look the opening at the top (much like the 50) I could not get anything large or any packages into them. Everything had to be flexible to get through the opening. Just my opinion though. Good luck and post pics when done.
