A well balanced 2-1 is paramount on a ST IMO.. for 1...
For 2; she will love you, if you get her decent pegs or better yet, Kuryakyn dually pegs and have them extended over the exhaust..
Got lots more tips too.. Loved my softail..
Ditto on the D&D ....love mine....not too loud just cruising but sound great when you open it up....had lots of compliments on the sound....get what you pay for and nice stuff ain't cheap tho
When you say a nice deep rumble do you want it loud? If so V&H is a good way to go. I've had V&H BSS and BR. Both sounded very similar but the BSS were deeper from the factory. The BR were a little tinney so I put some Big City Thunder Baffles in the BR and that made them nice and deep.
I eventually went with the Fatcat due to my engine work and I haven't looked back. The Fatcat has a nice deep tone and unique sound that I like.
Sound is very subjective so listen to some different pipes to decide what you like.
By a deep rumble I am referring to pitch of the sound not volume. Also any ideas on fuel managers? Also, nice looking bike.
2:1... V&H Pro Pipe or D&D Fat Cat are a great choices. You'll get the best power, have great looks, they sound awesome, they sit below the rear footboards/pegs, and they extend a bit further back so the sound doesn't bother the wifey when she's riding along.
Pipes..get the d+d .or thunder headers, bassani road rage...relocate the front blinkers, dont buy that anything kuryarkan.cheap junk..spend her money get the best thunder max auto, talk to drew dr.vtwin or fuelmoto for that.progress shocks or an air system, new wheels..pm is got a huge sale going on,give me a blank check i could spend 10 grand..lol

Thanks, I run a Power Commander and it has treated me well so far. This topic is almost like oil...well maybe not that bad but there are many opinions and many threads you can read through.
I had a feeling that was the case...if you don't want volume V&H would not be the best choice. I used to set off car alarms with my bike and even got cussed out by a lady for cranking my bike before she was ready. She was right behind me and bout had a heart attack then she laid one on me...LOL!
The Fat Cat is a little milder but will bark when you get on it. They also have a Quiet Baffle that several guys like although I have no experience with this baffle. As I said earlier sound is subjective. With the Fat Cat it seems you either love it or hate it. If you do like the sound of the Fat Cat it is arguably one of the best (if not the best) performing pipes and their fit and finish is second to none.
Maybe somebody else can comment on a pipe that has a deep rumble and lower volume.
