up here in massachusetts we must have front fenders on our bikes... can't get a sticker without it, and if you pass an LEO on a bad day he'll pull you over if you don't have one
so... seeing as though i wanted a 21X3.5 front rim with a 120 metz on the front, i had to find a way to make the stock fender from a 93, fit
here's what i did....
- 1st, separated the fender from the bracket
- 2nd, where the fender arms attach on either side to the bracket there was a hole about 5/16 wide to accept the fastener that would be bolted to inside of bracket... i used a 5/16X18X1" shoulder bolt and slide it through so that it protruded out, and welded it...then, ground down the head for tire space
- 3rd refastened fender to bracket with 6mm button head bolt from underside with acorns on top
- 4th used helm-joints fastened to proper length of stock arms
- 5th since i had the tire center-laced to hub, there was an offset issue... so, made up difference with 3/8 chrome spacer on right side where helm-joint bolts to front fork
- 6th fastened helm-joint to fender bracket with 1/8th spacer next to bracket, then capped it with acorn nuts
