When I first got mine, I was a bit disappointed. It took about 1000-1200 to wear in, then it was the best thing. I just took a 3 day/1700 mile trip, from DC to Sturgis, then a week later returned. No problems with my seat.

I bought my Wide Vintage used, but it was barely used.
It was harder than stock, but I was coming off a Corbin
touring (ha ha) seat. The 1st long ride (all day) I knew it
was the best seat I ever had.
The hard Corbin's are ok (for me) for a few hrs, but all day ??
Naaaaa. The plus side to a Corbin, is the lwr back supt. It's built
in, then you run the backrest and it's good. That and I really do like the looks
of the Corbin.
The backrest on the Mustang is like an office chair. It isn't as good as the Corbin, so the back supt isn't quite as good. But(t) for the ol tushy . . . The Mustang wins - period!!!!

Thank you for the reassurance everyone. I'm loving the backrest idea and looking forward to doing a long ride to feel the difference.

I used to have a Sundowner seat with gel and memory foam added. It felt very comfortable when I first sat on it, but was not comfortable for long rides. When I got a Mustang seat (wide vintage seat) I thought it felt hard at first, but I was amazed at how comfortable it was on a long ride.

That was on my previous bike. When I bought my current bike the first thing I did was get a Mustang seat for it.

When I had my Sportster, I installed a Mustang Wide on it and ultimatley returned it. Sat me up too high and wasn't really that comfortable. I love the stock Heritage seat and wonder why you would want to change it.

Have to agree. Have the same seat and did 3k plus trip this past summer and never felt sore. Wife was with for 2k of it and she was good and comfy as well. Buddies on street glides got tired and worn before we did. I do have a shot gun as well though. Only thing i do not like is that I feel it pushes me forward a little to much, but I know thatnis normal for a seat with a backrest. For reference I am just shy of 6 ft and right around 185.
