Soak the wrap in water prior to installing it. This will cut down on the fiberglass particles in the air and also allow yo to pull the wrap tighter while installing it.
Upsweep pipes definightly have a unique sound to them....
I'm sure I will get bored with it later this year and take off the wrap.
Lol, ain't that a fact! I'm the same dang way. Anyways, ever since I saw that style on Story's bike I have absolutely loved those pipes. If not for the fact I could not live without saddlebags, those pipes would be on my bike right now. Just a mention, I have wrapped pipes before. There is no going back. In little or no time the chrome underneath is wasted. So if your plan is ever to take off the wrap, you will most likely be going black, re-chroming or ceramic coating. Because the chrome will not be in any condition worthy of the rest of that Deluxe.
Puzzled....Where were you last night and why didnt I think of that?? I honestly didnt even think about the fiberglass until halfway thru the job, too late by then. Oh well, live and learn. Will remember that for the next time. Great looking bike you have.
When I wrap my pipes I let them dry than spray the wrap with hi temp paint to touch up as neccessary. The color will burn off on the cheap wrap and slightly discolor on the better stuff. I used the cheap stuff and had to keep painting it....
Heard that about the black wrap. Guy I ride with has to paint his with black hi-temp paint. I was going to do a black wrap but I think the tan/white color looks so much better with the color of my bike.
Man those pipes are sick!!! I have been throwing these pipes back and forth in my head and this pretty much makes up my mind! I am tires of the fishtail look myself I dont have cholos but everyone and there brother has them. They are getting played out I think.
The pipes look great i have been thinking of going that way with mine. i do have one question.
My brother wraped his and was advised to have the bike dyno'ed again because the wrap holds much more heat thus changing the way the pipe works.
I have just put the thunderheaders on and a powervisionII from Fuel-Moto but have not taken to get my dyno run yet. based on what others say i will either wrap or not wrap befor the run.
The look on your bike is so sweet and really got my thinking now. Great job!
