For those that asked, the wrap was really easy to do. I've been working as a mechanic for the past 17 years and it dosent take any mechanical knowedge, more patience. My advise is wrap them off the bike. I also have to add that I didnt want to wrap them at first after opening the box. These were some beautiful pipes. Huge 2 1/2 inch full cover one piece heat shields and the Samson quality I had expected. Really digging the way it looks now. As an update the very near future mods include 16" apes(14" currently on), tank lift-not sure which one, 21" front wheel, install my progressive 2" drop in the front(been lazy on that one), new floor boards......Thank you tax payers for getting me all that extra money over in Afghanistan/Iraq and every other crap hole I have had the pleasure of turning a wrench in!
+1 On the thank you tax payers... I'm here now,
They bought my bike... LOL
Next, your pipes look mean. I think the best thing about them is they make the bike yours. It is unique.
Finally, to me, those stout pipes kind of accentuate an overall stout look to your bike that works really well. That big ol fat front rim and tire are really part of the look. A 21" front rim may actually detract from the overall look you have now. Moreover, the 21's are becoming a little too popular--kind of like the cholos... Photo shop anyone?
Thanks for all the comment guys. This is what makes a bike so much fun, making it your own. Just went for a ride while the rain had stopped. The wrap started to come off of the front pipe. I think it is because of a part I had to cut. As soon as the bike cools down I am going to take the wrap off and get a picture up without the wrap. Papa Mike, your right about the 21" and possibly the whole SOCAL/West Coast look.....I think I just opened myself up to some hate mail there. Very few people around here in my part of Washington state with that look. I personally love the look of any bike and encourage anyone to make theirs just how they want it. I almost got rid of mine for a Street Glide. Changed out a few things and now I'm glad I didnt. I guess if I could have the perfect bike, my garage would be filled with about 20 different bikes, lol.
And let me add that almost 17 years in the Army has been awesome. I'm staying in until Uncle Sam makes me get out. Where else can you get paid to jump out of planes, blow stuff up and then ride home and do it all over again!!
Looks great man... I got the pics you sent this morning so I had to come check it out... I must admit I like you scoot both ways... But the upsweeps are less common and gives it
and more aggresive look!
You burned the edges after right? I also used stainless hose clamps instead of those ones they send you.
Aloha

Thanks Story. Like I said, if only I could have about 20 bikes, things would be great! So I found the culprit of why the wrap came off. I guess I shouldnt be trying to carve corners with the shotguns all the way down, lol. Put a scratch in the bottom of the heat shield and ripped the heat wrap. So heres how it sits now. $90 in wrap lasted me an hour ride, oh well.
Hahaha sorry I for got to metion that... slammed you'll lay that pipe down right before the bend of the upsweep... It adds character leave it till you have to replace it...
You see it... lol Oh yah watch the wrap when using the S100 foaming engine cleaner it'll bleach the hot spots... Don't ask me how I know.
Opps I was to late... Looks good, can you clean the chrome up from where the wrap was? I always thought once you wrap it it's done... But looks like you took it off in time.
Almost forget screw the 21 slap a 23 up there

Just emailed Samson to see if I can get a heat shield, If not, no biggie. I'm sure I would blow the money on something else stupid, I always do. Tried cleaning the chrome but no luck. New heat shield, new roll of wrap or just leave it.....somany choices gonna have to think about it over a 12 pack of something cold now!
