2011 Fatboy problems/advice
Hey guys, I just got a 2011 left over fatboy. Bought it with 10 miles. I have logged 200 miles so far. Have a couple questions/concerns that i thought i would ask you guys before i took it to the dealer.
#1 Front brake noise - sometimes when on irregular surfaces the front brake will moan loudly when applying the brake. This isn't the buzzing noise that I'm used to. Also, while in the garage i can hear a rattle coming from the front caliper. If i move the bike or tap on the forks i can hear this rattle. If i engage the front brake it doesn't rattle.
#2 Clutch, after the bike gets hot (10 miles or so) the clutch will feel grabby at the very end of the release point. Just when its almost all the way out the bike feels jerky. If i give it more revs its not as noticeable but its always there
Thoughts? Warranty time?
Thanks guys

Hey, congrats on getting your new bike!
As for brakes, I am familiar with 2 noises, being the grooved rotor noise when decelerating but not likely your case, and the "just washed the bike" brake howl until it "dusts up" again. That's the best way that I can explain it. With the noise you hear when tapping, try to see if something else is loose and vibrating. Grab the caliper and check if the mounting bolts are loose. My steering head adjustment is a bit off now (loose) as when I brake over a slight rough section of road, there is a bit of a shudder. That is on my spring list of to dos.
With the clutch, not too sure unless it is far out of adjustment - they do that on the 1st service, never experienced that myself with mine. I've done the adjustment twice on mine since the 1st service since I've changed cables twice, and I adjusted it so that the friction point was about 1/4 disengaged which I think was 3/4 turns out on the adjustment screw behind the derby cover, but it's been a while now.
I could only recommend contacting your dealer to let them know as it is a safety concern, especially with the brakes and they should take it in - just incase something is wrong where I can't see it. Otherwise (myself), I would check it good for any major issues and wait for the 1st service where it is hardly broken in yet.
Good luck and enjoy the ride!
