I'm just about to pick up a brand-spankin' new Springer Classic and i'm looking to change the pipes to get away from the purr of the factory installed items to more of a 'growl' wilst keeping the original look. I'm having troubles finding after market mufflers/pipes that have the same look or profile as the stock items, has anyone been down this road who can point me in the right direction.
Does anyone make a replacement for these yet?
Am i best "clearing" the baffles in the original pipes?
Will i need to re-map the fuel injection?
I'm not sure about the '07 but you might want to look at cycle shack's slipons. I heard good things about them and they're reasonably priced. You can get them in a straight cut as well as slash cuts (up, down, or out). Also look at Rinehart's. They just came out with the Eagle Beak slipons for Classics. Then there's Vance & Hines and Samson, both make the fishtails for the Classic. But again, I'm not sure if these options will work for the '07.
Thanks Coaster, that gives me somewhere to start looking.
The new model is a bit of a grey area for most riders (and shops apparently) as far as modifications go, what you can and can't get away with..
I'm really trying to keep the original look and most aftermarket pipes are a different shape or style, has anyone seen a copy of the original that actually sounds good?? I'd like to keep the factory chrome heat sheilds and that is why i'm trying to find a "copy" of the original...
