well you learn something new every day i thought my gas tank was a one peice tank it is not what pisses me off is dealer did not tell me this and must not of filled left tank when i bought it only second time i filled it first was after about 99miles i had just put it in reserve but it only took 1.8 gals thought something was wrong.damm what a waste lost a hour waiting for gas and whats worse is hearing from people about running out of gas.

Two tanks? I though there was a crossover line under the tank to make sure the bottom half of the two tank sides fed the carb.

Crossoverline should equalize fuel level from right to left

THE TWO HALVES ARE CONNECTED BY THE CROSSOVER TUBE. yOU ONLY FILL ONE SIDE.

If it's anything like my 97 Heritage, yes you can fill one side, but it's easier to fill both seperately......it's too slow to equalize otherwise.

When I had my 1989 ahd 1992 Springer with the two tanks (and crossover), I still filled both tanks.....

i fill both sides it is quicker, and the crossover should equalize as you burn the fuel.
