Default Gas tank

My Fatboy has two fuel caps .Do they both come off. Can't seem to get the one on the left off

The left side is not supposed to, but yes, they both come off. We just swapped out tanks on an '04 Fatboy and my friend went to pop-up style gas caps.

What year Fat Boy are we talking about here? It makes a difference. Evolution era (1984-1999) Softails have removable caps for both sides, but the left cap is left hand threaded (turn clockwise to remove). this is because the right hand cap is vented, but not the left. 2000-2017 Softails have a one piece tank and the right cap removes, while the left cap contains a fuel gauge.

Well, you might be right, but then again, you might be wrong...

There is a reason that the model and year information is important...

They are not all the same.

The Evo Softails have two fuel tanks.

Depends on the year. Pre 2000 models had a split tank and both caps came off

I would like to put a fuel hauggon it. It's a 98 Fatboy
