Have had my 2012 Fat Boy Lo two weeks and put 200 miles on it. Very difficult to find neutral. Seems to get easier when the bike warms up, but never easy. I can almost never get it into neutral from second.
Finding neutral from first or second, hot or cold, stopped or moving, running or not is no problem at all on my Vrod Muscle. Nor have I had this problem on the Sportser I owned or the the two Dynas I've owned over the years.
Assuming I can stand it for another 800 miles, I will request the dealer adjust it for free during the bike's first service and consider it a warranty issue.
I don't know if you have messed with the tranny fluid or not but if you have to much in it, even the slightest little bit it will make it hard to shift. You can also reach down with your hand and pop it in to neutral until you get it figured out. It's kinda "hillbilly" but hey, I am what I am!!
ha!,i thought i was the only one that did that, lol,,my primary fluid was overfilled on my bike, could not get n for anything,i changed it now its a little better, hit or miss,,but i got so used to shutting it off and using my hand,,whatever works,,
Just picked up my first HD, FatBoy Lo, been riding sport bikes the last 20 plus years.
Only about 50 miles on the clock, but damn, its a B%$^& getting her into neutral. Im hoping it gets better as i start to feed her some more miles.
my 2012 touchy when finding neutral , sometimes gotta just pull clutch try and find if no good then return clutch back and move up slightly then try again seems to move gears around to different position or something
I pretty much never shift anything into neutral . Unless pushing around the shop . even cars , I just put the clutch in . I like knowing if I have to move in a hurry ,I just release clutch and go .
I am wondering if anyone eles has experienced the same problem. After riding a few 100 miles or its an extremely hot day - it only takes a few mikes, especially during the summer months, I am unable to shift into netural with the bike running, once I shut the bike off, I can shift into netural. The clutch has been adjusted to "factory" specifications, however the problem still plagues me. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
Hey Never heard an answer from U....
What did U do.????
Did U get her fixed???
I always,, well,,, 99.9% of the time come to a stop..... then while in first gear, I barley touch the lever up to find Neutral....
I still have a hard time finding Neutral from 2nd if moving if I try that way..
It took me awhile to figure out the floorboards I kept kicking them
I'm thinking of replacing them with forward controls (I think that's the term)
The kickstand is the worst it always feels like it will fall over and why not put a switch that shuts the engine when the kickstand is down and in gear.
Been riding Harleys for over forty years, all types. Seen this problem with most old or new. We love these bikes even with their flaws so Harley keeps living in the stone age instead of fixing the problems. Defective fuel gauges also come to mind and they couldn't care less because owners don't demand better.
