Default Apes are in! (ran into a problem runnin wires ideas pls!)

So tonight when I got home from work I had a very nice box of goodies! Set of Carlini Pist Apes (17") see the image... I've also got 5" risers to add to it putting total height from peak of bar to bottom of riser right at 23 1/16", this should put the bars about a quarter inch above my shoulders on the dg seat. Now I just need to figure out cable lengths... Height difference between stock bars and the carlini's is 15" from bottom of bar to bottom of bar so I'm thinking +15 or so. Magnum told me a good way to check is to hold the setup against the old bars and measure the height difference between the two. Any ideas?

Excuse my pinkish maroon recliner, its all I got!! Also I apologize for the crappy iphone pic.

I think the best way to do it is leave you cables then mock up new bars then measure from existing cable to mounting points on new bars. Excess cables on bars look no bueno.

I completely agree on the excess cables not looking good, I hope to get off at normal time tomorrow so I can pull the bars off. Unfortunately I didn't have much time to attempt it tonight, but its not like I can really order anything till Monday.

trying this myself and I went from 10" to 14" bars but had to add 8 inches to the clutch but six inches to the wiring (internal) and then it looks like the brake, throttle & idle are gonna only be 4 inches. HUH???

Just my opinion but before you buy cables you may want to mock the bars and risers up on your bike and check em out. Most people a short riser 1.5" or so.

Nice bars man

Gotta have at least 4" to clear the tank as they are 1 1/4" wider than the trees. I could prolly get away with shorter risers if I took the tank lift off.

Don't know if this will help you, but I put 16" Wild Ones Chubbys on stock risers on my Fatboy. Below inches's are added to stock cables
Throttle +10"
Idle +10"
Clutch +8"
Brake +10"
