Thanks for all the positive comments! Went out early this morning for a 15 minute ride and was frozen due to the 35 degree temps. Have a full face helmet coming (due Wednesday) and am going to just suck it up and get the windshield I need rather than wait for a Father's Day gift.
Just taking it slow and easy on back roads getting a feel for the bike. Although the KZ400 LTD was a long time ago (and I rode a buddy's sportster for 10+ hours a year ago) riding a motorcycle is much like riding a bike- you just don't forget.
I have read that the springer front end handles differently than regular forks, but I don't feel any difference-probably because I haven't ridden a big rig before this one. Handles great, to me, and I am fine just cruising along at a reasonable speed. No switchbacks or hairpin curves at high speeds to interest me. I'll gladly just putt around nice and easy.
Thanks again for the positive feedback. I know for a fact that there is no bike like a Harley!!
I heard before I bought it that Springers we're too "bouncy". Should have known better when hearing that advice from dudes who didn't have a Springer. I love mine - have not had any problems whatsoever with handling. I scrape the boards WAY before I think I would feel any adverse effects of the front end while cornering.
The monoshock takes away any "bouncy" oscillations. Handles great, bud. Enjoy.
Was nearly 60 deg yesterday and mostly sunny. Went our for about an hour sticking to mostly windy back roads. Taking it slow and easy and just getting comfortable with the bike. Hoping for decent weather on the upcoming weekend to do more. Want to change all three major fluids this weekend, too, so I know what is there is fresh and good to g o until next scheduled interval.
Almost too much information on these boards, though. I guess for the first fluid change I'll just stick with HD oils and figure out later whether to go synthetic and which brand to use.
I do love this bike!!
