Default Black Exhaust Pipes

Been wanting to swap out my V&H Pipes for something else on my Train. I really like the sound & performance of the Rhinehart Crossbacks but my only problem is that I want my new pipes to be all black. Can they powder coated or should I shop for some other pipes?

Any pipe can be ceramic or powdercoated black...shouldn't be an issue - why not coat your current set & save some $$$??? Ceramic coating on my entire 09 FLHX exhaust (stock header, shields + Rinehart pipes) was $160...just a thought.

Every other bike in my area has V&H pipes & I would like something a little different. I also like the Bassani Pro Streets Turn Outs. Might even consider those.

If I get some Bassani Pro Streets I plan on getting them in black with the heat shields. Do the Rhinehart Crossbacks heat shields come off so that they can be ceramic coated?

be careful with the powder coat. You have to specify the high heat powder and not everyone has it.

Ceramic is much more perfect for this.

Also, do you want to consider wrapping the pipes with black wrap? There are lots of pictures on these boards for examples.

I'd hate to wrap some Rhinehart pipes. Not completely sure why, maybe because there just a good looking set of pipes. There is only one shop local that does ceramic coating but just found out that they closed down. Might have to go with some Bassani Pro Streets.

this is not correct, if the bike is tuned right regular powder will be just fine it can take 500* easy all day i coated mine over 3 years with 0 issues, they look like the day i pulled them from the oven... we have powder coated countless heat shields!
if you pipe is getting hot enough to melt the powder off the shields your tune is way off and you are running crazy lean (with the exception of thunder headers this pipe just run way hot)

here are some coated in regular powder

high temp powder looks completely different than reg powder, here is 1200* after being in use at full temp... as you can see the color change is drastic

before operation

after use at full temp (you can see part final cures at full operational temp)

and a set of headers we shot in high temp

I concur, the muffler on this is off a roadglide and has no heat shield and is fine....except for the road rashes under it..........
