BOUGHT A SPEEDO ON EBAY FOR MY BIKE WANT TO GET THE MILEAGE ON MY BIKE PUT ON THE ONE I BOUGHT ON EBAY. WHERE CAN I GET THIS DONE HD SAYS THEY WONT DO IT BECAUSE I DONT HAVE THE ORIGANAL PACKING BOX?
Gotta call around to other dealers and see if someone will do a little "back door" deal because HD is pretty strict on those rules... It has something to do with the Federal odometer laws and mileage descrepentsies act. You just might be *** out Bro...
In the eyes of Big Brother, It's the same as rolling back an odometer which is a BIG no-no. BUT for some reason, if it is a NEW replacment you or the dealer are legally allowed to change the mileage to match what was originally on there. I ran into the same issue last year and wound up having to drop the $500 at the dealer to install a new one...
Your better off skipping the red tape and put that sucker back on Ebay then go to your L.D. and just order the new one. My .2 cents
whoa easy with the caps lock.. What year bike? When I put a speedo on my 2010, the mileage came right up from the computer.. also, there's a plug under the seat off to the side that really doesn't do anything..that's the cable you plug the speedo in to so the computer can update itself, if plugging it directly in doesn't work
