Default Oil Pressure Guage Installation Question

Has anyone installed the HD oil pressure guage and chrome mounting bracket that mounts on top of the rocker box covers? I was wondering how hard the job is for a novice wrentcher??

Not that hard...

Ensure that you PROPERLY torque and use thread tape, not pipe dope, when you do the install....

Proper tools are also important (Line Wrench).....

you may have to remove your front exhaust pipe i had to on my deluxe i had to lift the back of the fuel tank to get the rocker box bolts out. i have the ness gauge kit and on the directions it said to use the 45 degree but i wound up using the straight fitting i could not tighten the forty five fitting enough it was a problem i. also the Teflon tape you use is not supposed to be the household one. They make one for this applaction. My dealer wanted about $200 to install this unit

installed one on my o7 softtail custom, was pretty easy except I had to raise rear of fuel tank to access rocker cover bolts. I also replaced the cheap plastic oil line with a steel braided one..

Thanks for the advice everyone. Looking at the bike, it appears that the front header pipe is going to have to come off and the rear of the gas tank will need to be raised to get one of the rocker box cover bolts off. Thanks again for all your input

Someone else needs to chime in concerning what that odd socket is called that removes the oil pressure sending unit,I rounded the edges of my sending unit without that correct tool on my '05 Fatboy.

I used a 15/16 open end wrench and it worked great. You can also use a 15/16 crows foot.
