Sorry, but SAS doesn't compare to Shotgun. I was going to go with the SAS, but held out because of the cost. Fortunately for me, JD came up with the Shotgun Shock and it has been the best money I've spent on my bike, bar none.
SAS does NOT have independant height and damping controls - just checked the web site and the damping is *still* pre-set.
Shotgun lets you independently adjust the damping and the height. The compressor on the Shotgun is the most powerful in the industry, as are the actual shock mechanisms.
Look deeply into them both and you'll see which is the absolute best. Do some searches here and you'll see how many satisfied customers there are, and why.

Thanks guys. Although I want one for the "cool" factor and the ability to adjust my bike on the fly I am getting this for medical reasons more then anything. It just hurts to much to raise and lower my feet and I don't want surgery at the beginning of riding season, I will wait until the end of riding season for that crap. I have always wanted air ride since it 1st came out but I always had other things to worry about 1st. Now, if I want to ride, I have to have it. I didn't picture getting old this way, it blows!
tbone, remember the shock you purchase is for medical reasons. That being said don't make your decision strictly on the $$, and get one that has adjustable damping at any height. This will allow proper ride comfort even when it's slammed. Most air ride systems are far too soft when you dump the air. Get one on your ride quick so you can enjoy the rest of the riding season. Yes getting "old" does blow, except I guess for the wisdom gained.

I can't speak for any other brands because I haven't had them, Myself suffering with L1 through L5 and C4 through C6 spinal injuries I can say once i got theough the learning curve for setting up the Shotgun Shock system, I can personally say it is worth every single red penny.
Sure, you get the "cool" factor, but you get a reliable system that is adjustable for whatever riding conditions too being it slammed or otherwise. A majority of my riding is on the bump stops because I like rollin slammed and she is as comfortable as I'd bet you could get with anything else.
As far as the compressor and single feed hose being individual components, I'm glad they are so if maintence or replacement is required I can do it myself. As for the air hose, if it were to fail, the design of the shock system will not fail and you'll still be able to ride to get home. It's not designed like car air ride system in that senses which I'm familiar with sitting on the side of the road with a broken fitting or line and your bags flat and your stuck. That's not how the Shotgun operates.
And what other company can you pick up the phone and speak to the person who designed and makes it? JD will take whatever time is needed to explain the system to you, give him a call yourself and ask him about the Shotgun compared to other systems. Get your information straight from the King of air ride.
Again, thanks guy's. I will be going to my indy today to talk about a few things and at the top of the list is the air ride system. I need to raise it as high as I can while in town and at stop and go but I want to slam it once out of town and out in the open country or the open road. I do like the idea of being able to adjust the dampening as well as the height of the ride. I came here to find out what the best is according to those who have had it and it seems that the shotgun system seems to beat everything else out by a clear margine.
