I've read and heard complaints about the digital ones.
AFAIK The analog gauges are for older bikes and the digital are for newer. At least I haven't been able to find a dipstick with analog gauge for my '08 UC.
I use the analog gauge. My only complaint is that when the oil is fresh, it's hard to see it on the shiny stem. As far as the temp, I suppose it's accurate. My oil temp runs at around 200+.
I have had a couple of LED gauges go bad over the years. I did buy a black faced analog gauge off of EBay ($25) for my '05 Heritage that works good. Do a search on EBay. SJ Ron
When I went to buy the digital for my bike, the parts guy told me not to waste my money. He said that almost everyone they sold came back. Apparently the heat fries the innards of them. I have the analog and it works just fine. Either one requires me to have to lift my right leg to see it. Not going to do that at 70 mph.
Maybe they've changed the digital ones in the last couple of years, but it's not worth it to me to buy another gauge when the current one works just fine. It's not a speedometer that I have to pay attention to frequently.
