Open a free account at photobucket, download your photos there, there is an address in the IMG field. paste that address here and your photos will show up.

We all have changes of heart. If you're in a softy and that's all you can afford then go convertible. I've got a Deluxe and love her, but if I'm going touring then the detachable bags and trunk go on. Walla!

Hey Northern Cowboy, would you please consider a different avatar?! I can't freakin' concentrate on this thread!!

It is a reckless fairing and I plan to paint the speaker covers. There wasnt an option on those. I have always loved the Fatboy and didnt originally plan to go this route. I prefer to ride with no windshield or bags around town but once I start driving distance on the highways or need to carry stuff with me I need the windshield and bags. I went with the reckless fairing because it is quick release. Never cared for a stereo on the bike before but figured if i was going with a fairing why not. It funny how one thing leads to another and then another. The nice thing is without too much work it can be stripped down. I am going to work on making the brackets for the bags quick release as well so within a couple minutes i can have everything completely off the bike.

I just put a reckless fairing on my Low Rider and I hated those speaker covers. Painted them flat black, much better.

Tell me more about the detachable trunk ! What kind of 2up seat do you have?
I like the Deluxe and now I like it even better. I was looking at the Street Glides - Road Glides for touring but they just didn't have the feel like the softail. I like riding in not on the bike.

Great job - and I do agree with your other comment below. aaagh on second thought keep it Northern Cowboy gives me more to look at.

You have to buy the detachable hardware first, from H-D, of course. That's the expensive part. Then you can buy any trunk you want (mine was a little more than $100 on Flea Bay) and drill a few holes. Make sure to use some big washers and you're all set.
I have several different seats but I don't do any 2-up touring so mine are all solos. The best one for touring (IMO) is the Ultimate. I don't know if they make a 2-up seat, but they do make a pillion.

I think it looks good man. Ive been thinking about getting a detachable fairing for long road trips. Are they fairly easy to detach with the wiring and all?

The mounting hardware is a PITA but just follow the directions. Once it's on there you're done with it. Afterwards, yes, it's easy to take on and off.

Agreed. Mine's not on there for looks. I only put it on for longer cruises. After several highway hours you're a lot less beat up.

Here's a pic from a recent trip down to Fla without the trunk. The bags require no pipe mods (for those of us that like 'em stock) and there's the Ultimate seat. Not beautiful either, IMO, but easy on the ****.

The fairing is really easy to take off, just loosen four bolts and undo the wiring with a twist and lift it off.
No doubt the Bike looks better without the fairing, without the bags, and without a windshield but I wanted something for the highway riding and I needed the bags for work and trips. Basically I needed to make it dual purpose. Someday I will own mutliple bikes so I wont need to switch things out but for now I have to make what I have work.
