Certain tires, tread patterns and compounds really do have thier differences and one should always consider how and where they ride when picking a tire.

According to Micheline's literature on the Commander II's, they increased the silica in the compound to improve wet weather handling characteristics. Hopefully, that will add a balance between longevity and grip.
