Springer front shock question
I removed the shock from my springer frontend to clean the springs behind the shock . While I had it off I noticed it is much harder to extend but compresses easy. I have had other springers and noticed this one does have a little more nose dive under braking . Is this normal for the shock to compress easier than extend. Thanks

That is normal for a shock. They need to compress fast with almost no resistance to absorb the bumps in the road and avoid transfering these bumps to the bike and rider. On the rebound they need resistance or dampening to prevent spring oscillation. With the shock out of the bike it seems very stiff but in the bike with the heavy springs, it works just fine.

Thanks Crash, Kinda what I thought , just wanted to make sure the shock isnt worn out . The bike is a softail standard with 40k miles , not sure what year the frontend is or miles . BTW that is a badass springer in your pic.
