Default Need help with paint/medallion choice

I have the silver/black 100th anniv. Heritage classic, but I think it looks too much like a man's bike. So I bought a set of tins and after much nail biting and deciding on the right color, they are being painted now. I'm just storing the anniv. set for the time being.

The painter sent the attached photos. I'm going to see it in person tomorrow to get a better idea of how it looks because it looks very "minty" to me. He did say he was hesitant to send them because of the way they show up on a camera phone. I am shooting for a more retro look. I saw an older bike on here and tried to match up that color, using off white, making it two tone. Seeing the newly painted tins next to the bike with the color I love - it is obvious they aren't a match I can always ask him to repaint it, for a price, if I have to.

I have also attached a photo of the bike with the color I wanted - it is the bike with the solid color. Worries about the color aside, I cannot decide which medallion to choose - the ones I like are attached also. I like the ones with red in them, but I also like the white with chrome...

Any ideas, thoughts, much appreciated. Thank you!

Default And....

If anyone knows the exact color of that bike - feel free to share it with me. I went thru many, many paint books and am not against having him repaint it. Also, I know there are 4 medallions and not 3 in that photo that's titled 3 medallions Thanks!

Here is a link to the 1949 colors from HD:

This guy can mix you the right color if you want.

I'd go with the same emblem as on your 1949 picture ... works well with the color.

Yea, the pic of what you like looks more of a teal color, the tins he shot look minty as you said. Tho it doesnt look bad at all to me. I think the paint looks like it would fit the lines of the bike well. As for a badge...im not a fan of em but had my 100yr badge done by a sign shop as a sticker to keep my tank smooth...just a thought.

Since I like causing trouble, I'm going to throw another idea at you. Have you thought about doing something completely different? Make your bike stand out from the crowd? Since your having the tins painted, have some art work added. As we speak, the tank/fenders for my wife's bike is in to the painters. He is doing a Ms Potato Head theme.

if your going with that color, then i like your first choice for the emblems as long the color matches. if not then my second fav would be your last choice.

You've got to see them in person. Fluorescent lights from the shop can really change the color. My thought is a thin pinstripe to better connect the two colors. Regarding the emblems, I'd print off color copies of the emblems and put them on the tank to give you a better idea. All of them are cool. Post this on queens of the road forum for the ladies input! We love to decorate!

What's wrong with it looking like a man's bike? The HD scene is & always will be predominantly male dominated.

Color choice is nice, however. Always liked it. I call it "Miami Green".

Got rid of my badges, big gold anniversary edition flashy things, figure when time comes to pull the tins for paint instead of badges have a nice air brush design put on. Something that doesnt over power the paint tho.
