hi guys so i am ordering a mustang seat tomorrow but i am stumped as to what to get i am 6'1'' and 300lbs and want to be comfortable my hd seat is killing me i have been looking at the standard vintage 1pc and the day tripper but I'm not sure. some bigger guys have said that the standard isn't comfortable and i think that the 17'' is to big for the look of my bike and if the 14'' isn't comfortable i am skeptical about the day tripper can anyone help please?
The folks at Mustang will help you. I bought the 4 piece mustang super touring (two seats, back rest and sissybar pad with the black pearl studs). I wanted their big plush one but the lady at mustang said that would be about 3/4's of an inch too far back and super touring was the right one for me.
For your build you would be fine with my setup on a road king classic; 16 inch apes and the mustang super touring, but you have to figure this out with research and such.
Starting with the folks at mustang is a good idea, then you might want to get new bars to match. They should ask you about your wingspan and inseam and all that stuff. There are TONS of threads here you can go read on this subject, and you should.
Good luck!

Reason: needed more w00tness
I'm 6'2", 270lb so pretty close to you and I've got a 94 Heritage Solo that's only 14" wide and I find it comfortable. For some reason though when I had my apes on I always wanted to scootch back on the seat and would end up sitting on the back of the seat which wasn't too comfortable.
Now that I have lower bars I sit down in the seat like you're supposed to and it's very comfortable. I'm considering going with a C&C solo next but when I was thinking about the Mustang seat I was first thinking of the wide version like you till I realized just how wide it would be. I'd go with the 14" version, it'll be plenty comfortable.
I bought the Mustang wide touring with back rest! I love it! It's wide but doesn't look bad with bags on the bike. I gave up on looking good and it's now all about comfort!
to add to this my scoot is a 09 fatboy with 18'' apes....and thanks alot guys i am going to call mustang tomorrow. and anyone else with pics and advice would be greatly appreciated i would really like to see a fatboy with the 14'' vintage on it
I just (last week) put a Mustang Wide Touring on my '05 Fatboy, model 76047, which is the 17.5" for standard rear tire model. I haven't had a chance to take a photo, and only put a couple of hours on it, but it looks and feels great.
I'm only 5'11" 170 pounds, and its has me in a good seating position, and more importantly it'll keep my wife happy as it sits more level and higher up compared to stock.
