I purchased a used 7" headlight off of a heritage to upgrade my current light. Im using a bosch reflector that takes a h4 bulb. The lamp itself fits perfect in the bucket but it appears im missing something. When I put the outside trim ring on the lamp itself falls out. Is there supposed to be an inner ring that screws to the bucket itself to hold the lamp in?

 

Yes, there is supposed to be a chrome ring that screws to the bucket with three screws. That ring secures the lamp(reflector) to the bucket.

Yep! The three screws line up only one way. Some of MoCos "brilliant" engineering. Mine took a little "persuasion" to line up correctly.
