Hey guys, I love all the remarks. Guess I had it comin. Tough Crowd. LOL.

Let me try this again.
I know that the low profile helmets don't have the best safety rating. But does anyone know of a low profile helmet that is good looking and safe?

From what I understand, helmet has to have a least a 1" padding to be DOT approved. I bought a Vega half helmet. It has the 1" styrofoam shell in it. I bought a size or 2 too small, took out the styrofoam and with a dremel tool carved out the inside to fit my head. Put back in the liner. I have the DOT symbol on the outside and inside. Fits and looks much better now. Just an idea....

Most helmets even novelty have a strong enough shell it is the padding inside that keeps your brain from turning to scrambled eggs when it takes a huge impact. In order for a helmet to meet DOT requirements it has to have a certain amount of impact resistance and that means they will be thick looking and give you the mushroom appearance. There is no way around that yet and buying a DOT sticker for your novelty helmet will get you busted if the cop looks inside.
