Default 08 night train throttle cable help!

How do they hook up?

Right now I have the one that has a spring closest to the air cleaner and then closest to you if you were on the bike. The other furthest from the air cleaner and if you were on the bike closet to the brake. Also it's really tight and doesn't spring back what so ever. I tried adjusting but it doesn't work. ......... Do i have them on backwards?? Any help would be great!!!

Yes you have them backwards. The cable with the spring is the "idle" cable. It should be on the back side of the throttle body. This cable is also gold on the end that attaches to your throttle housing. It should be on the rear ( closest to you) position on the housing.

Just pull on the cable and the one that opens the tb should be on the front side of the switch housing.

I just did my ape install and from your description, it seems you have them correct.

The throttle cable attaches to the front of your grip and it goes to the inside (engine side) of the throttle body.

The idle cable, with the spring, goes to the back of the grip and to the outside (air cleaner side) of the throttle body. You'll see the channel that the spring fits down into.

As to why its binding...undo your cables from the throttle body and manually open it. Let it go to makes sure that it slams itself closed. If it does then, its a cable binding inside the sheath or I'd say check your throttle lock...it may have been set too tight during the install.

Thumbs up

Unless carbs are the exact opposite of throttle bodies, the throttle or "pull" cable is definitely on the outside towards the air cleaner....and the idle cable is on the inside towards the engine. Here is a picture I took of my 06. The picture is taken from the front of the engine looking towards the back. The air cleaner is on the left of the pic. The green circle is my throttle cable and the red is my idle (with the spring). Like I said....maybe carbs are ***-backwards but my service manual doesn't make note of any difference between the carb or fuel injection and they use the same exact cables.

heheh...no doubt tha. Lotsa info about getting the cables back to where they need to be. Throttle first then idle. Best to have the AC off so ya can see the cable and follow the manual instructions.

So the carbs must be opposite from EFI.
